Sonu Sood is an Indian film actor, producer, and humanitarian who has appeared in over 100 Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Punjabi films. He was born on July 30, 1973, in Moga, Punjab, India, to a family of Punjabi origin. He completed his schooling in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and pursued his graduation in engineering from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering in Nagpur. After completing his studies, Sonu moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting.

Sonu Sood began his acting career in 1999 with the Tamil film, Kallazhagar, where he played a supporting role. He then went on to play small roles in films like Shaheed-E-Azam, Zindagi Khoobsoorat Hai, and Raja Bhaiya. In 2002, he made his debut in Telugu cinema with the film, Hands Up! He also made his debut in Bollywood in the same year with the film, Shaheed-E-Azam.
