If you are a woman, you might have face or might face in future, circumstances which might scare you. You might be walking alone at night, when you feel that someone is following you or some man could try to be excessively touchy with you. In such moments, if you aren’t aware of self defense techniques, you might see death or some mishap lurking around. So, it’s better to learn the basics of self defense for your own safety. Some of them are explained below:
Look at best self defense techniques for you
- A STRAIGHT PUNCH:
If someone is in front of you and you identify him as a threat, a straight and direct punch can be really effective. But make sure about aiming your punch for a quite vulnerable area—such as your attacker’s eyes, nose, or throat.
Aim force from the ball of your foot and thrust your hip and fist forward simultaneously. This will maximize your strength. Your contact area must be the pointer and middle finger knuckles, not your delicate ring and tiny finger knuckles.
- KICK YOUR KNEE:
In case, the attacker is quite close to you and a punch won’t be possible, a knee kick is a good option. Use this technique when the attacker is in your personal space. Just powerfully drive your knee straight up to hit his groin. Remember to use the bony tip of your knee, not your thigh.
Eventually this would cause more pain. If possible, before you kick with your knee, try to grab him between his neck and shoulders, and hold on to as much skin, clothing or muscle, as this would provide you with more leverage to kick harder.

- DEFENCE FOR HIS BEAR HUG:
If your attacker catches you and tries to “bear hug” you—you can employ a common type of move when it’s a male attacking a female, if your attacker grabs you from front or behind around the shoulders, then your first reaction must be to grab his elbows to try to move arms away from your body.
However, your best defense in this case is to drop as low as you can towards the ground and twitch as much as you can to wriggle out of his hold.
- DEFENCE AGAINST GETTING CHOKED:
If your attacker tries to choke you, there’s more chance of you trying immediately move your hands toward your neck and remove his clutches.
Well, instead of trying to pull the attacker’s hands off of your delicate neck—a move you are unlikely to succeed at, especially when you’re smaller than your attacker, use your hands like a hook.
In case, if possible, kick at the same time. If you are able to pluck his thumbs away, it would be really harder for the person to maintain a choke, eventually giving you time to strike back and get away.
Please keep in mind that you only have between 3-8 seconds to get your attacker’s hands off your delicate throat before you start to lose oxygen and die.
These 4 self defense techniques are really beneficial to ensure your safety. So, try and learn them.
