A Mumbai Auto Driver Motivational Story
It’s all about, an auto driver in Mumbai who came to the city of dreams from a small village in Pune. He started his career as a peon in a travel agency. Well, his work often had extended hours beyond midnights as he had to wait until the auditors had done their work. So, he spent most of his time in office luxury buses. He as a quite poor and normal being without great aspirations was awed by the interiors of the buses, as they had TVs, art pieces and many other special things to offer to the guests. That’s when he decided that no matter which vehicle he would buy in future, be it a cycle or an entire rickshaw, he would modify it.

After several years of hard work, by 1999, he had saved enough money to buy a normal auto-rickshaw. For whole two years, he drove it just the way it was, but his dream to modify his vehicle was still alive. He kept saving up money for the modifications. It took time and his first attempt was making a tissue paper box out of hay and keeping newspapers in it. All his relatives, family members and his neighbors appreciated his efforts. Even the customers liked his work immensely.
This was a great encouragement for him. Thus, every year he kept adding things to the small space in his auto-rickshaw. After years of striving, saving and decorating, auto no. MH-02-DU 2662 has a small TV, an STD telephone, a wifi connection, a power bank, mobile recharge coupons, a first aid box, a fire extinguisher, tissue papers, magazines, newspapers, hot tea, a calendar and last but not the least, a plank that has daily updated stock market rates. Wasn’t it awes trucking? As a matter of fact, his customers enjoy riding in his vehicle. They are never short of knowledge and entertainment while travelling long journeys, amidst the unrelenting traffic of Mumbai.
He exclaims that he doesn’t come from a privileged background or doesn’t do any kind of job that makes him rich. But it is his will and unfading intention that drives his small actions to make a difference.
How to Write Complaint to PM Narendra Modi
When we talk of making a difference, we can’t ignore the good deeds in which he indulges himself. He tries his bit in a little-ways. On special days like International Women’s Day, Ramzan, Christmas, Raksha Bandhan, etc. he gives free rides to all his customers. He does this because he believes that he earns all the 365 days. Be it money or warm smiles. And thus, he is thankful to the Mumbaiker’s and so he has to give it back. So, he rightly quotes that “I am not a rich man, but I don’t have to do big things to help- I just need to do small things correctly”.
Not just that, every year he saves enough to sponsor fruity packets for a cancer home on every Sunday and he supports education of two girls every year. Also, in his free time, he drives around to collect old clothes from people whom he had known for years and gives them to the street children he sees on his way.
Thus, he very truly says that “You donated a lots of money to be able to donate, you just need to have the right intentions.
This man is a legend or a jewel on earth, whatever you prefer to call. He teaches and inspires us that we can spread smiles only if we have an intention to. We don’t need money for that.
