Once upon a time, there lived a farmer and his son in a small village. They used earn their bread and butter through farming. Both of them used to live happily. But the farmer’s son was so arrogant and short tempered sometimes. This made his friends circle short day by day. The boy then complained about this to his father. Then the farmer thought for a while and gave him a task. As the farmer wanted his son to know his mistake, he asked him to take a bag of nails and asked him to keep it with him. He told him that, every time he loses his temper, he should hammer a nail into a fence.
The son did the same thing as said by the farmer. On the first day, he hammered many nails and this gradually got decreased day by day. His temper got reduced after some days. Finally, on one fine day, he didn’t lose his temper at all. The boy wondered and felt happy as well. He went to father and shred this news with him happily. Then his father praised him and also asked him to pull back each nail whenever he tries to calm down his anger towards anyone. The boy again obeyed his father’s words and followed them. He pulled back a nail each time he controlled his temper. At last, the young by could pull all the nails back. He again went to his father and told him that he finished the task given by him. He also said that the task made him control his anger and it helped him a lot. The father felt happy and he asked his son to come with hi to the garden where the fence was present. Both of them went to the garden and the father showed him the fence asked him to look at it for a few minutes. Then the farmer told his son that “You have accomplished the task in good way and I’m happy to know that you were able to overcome your weakness. But just look at the holes in the fence, it is not the same when you started the task. The beautiful fence has now got scars or holes as you can see. In the same way, you have left a bad remark of you on your friends. Though you get to know your mistake and repent for the same after scolding them, those words will always remain in their mind even if they forgive you in future.” The boy understood his mistake clearly and from then he always controlled his anger and thought before uttering words in anger.
Moral of the story: Once said, you can never get your words back. So always think twice before you speak something to someone. Always try to control your emotions and especially your anger. Think before you act or else you will have to repent in future. Never ever try to shoot words on others while in anger.
