You might be a regular google user, but unfortunately someone who only knows to search on the tricky search engine. Did you know that google has plethora of tricks in its womb, which would allure and benefit you? So, let’s start reading some google tricks and tips.
1) MAKE USE OF QUOTES TO SEARCH PHRASE
Well this is quite famous and simple trick: searching any phrase through quotes would produce only those pages which have the same words, exactly in the same order as what’s in the quote you wrote.
It’s definitely one of the most essential search tips, more useful when you are trying to find results containing some specific phrase.

SPECIFY UNKNOWN OR VARIABLE WORDS WITHIN QUOTES:
This is a quite lesser known trick:
searching any phrase within quotes with an asterisk mark replacing a word would search all the variety of variations of that particular phrase. It’s really helpful if you are trying to find some song from its only known lyrics, or trying to find some TEDTalk, etc.
ELIMINATE SOME RESULTS BY USING THE MINUS SIGNS:
You would probably want to eliminate some results with some particular words if you are trying to search for any term that is generating a lot of unwanted results that aren’t of any interest to you.
For this you need to figure out what terms you’re actually not interested in (e.g. jaguar -car) and then re-run the search.
SEARCH FOR KEYWORDS IN WEBSITES:
If you think of the actual “site:” function as a Google search option that actually searches only a particular website, then it would be really easy. if you want for eg: TIME.com to mention Google, then write “Google site: TIME.com”.
GO BACK TO YEARS AGO AND SEARCH NEWS ARCHIVES:
Google News as another platform within your favorite search engine Google, has an option to search over 100 years’ worth of archived news from all newspapers from around the world.
COMPARE ANY FOOD ON GOOGLE:
It might happen sometimes that you are unable to decide between a pizza or a burger for dinner. But let’s take a healthier example here. For instance, you type in “rice v/s. quinoa,” and you would receive all side-by-side the comparisons of the nutritional facts considered for determining better food.
Tilt your screen by searching “tilt”
This is one of the most fun additions innovated by the Google engineers. Just type TILT on the search bar of your favorite search engine and get website links to not only tilt your screen but also other themes such as Google Mirror, Gravity, etc. don’t believe it? Try out yourself (search without quotes).
USE IMAGES TO SEARCH FOR IMAGES:
Did you ever come across any picture that looks very strangely familiar? Do you wish to know where it came from? If yes, then you just need to save the image, and then search it on the search engine Google Images (with the camera button), and you will be able to see similar images on the web.
