Sometimes, it might have happened that you needed to hand your phone over to your friends, not your best friend probably or your parents. You might feel quite disturbed or restless, because of some personal data or people might end up changing preferences or even deleting some information like contacts or messages. Fortunately, Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with an amazing system-level guest mode.
This provides you with a separate guest profile that doesn’t have any of your personal data such as installed apps, messages or preferences. You can easily switch to this mode whenever you hand over your phone to someone else.
Well, this is as good as a fresh installed feature of Android 5.0 Lollipop and the moment you switch back to your preferred Google account, all the data saved in the guest mode is removed. This makes it a particularly very effective way of letting someone else use your phone for some time.
So, here’s how to enable guest mode on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
- Firstly, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull down the notifications bar in your mobile.
- Then, tap your avatar on the top right corner twice.
- Now you would notice three icons – your Google account, Add guest and Add user.
- So, tap on Add guest.
- Now your smartphone would switch on to the guest mode. This might take some time and the phone might be slightly slow at first, but would definitely take you through within few minutes.
- When you have access to the guest mode, you can easily revert back to your Google account. NOTE: Follow the steps 1 and 2 above and then tap the icon that shows your Google account. This would delete all the data saved in the guest session as well.
If your smartphone perhaps does not have Android 5.0 Lollipop version installed, you can check for a pre-loaded guest mode in your android phone. Some brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, LG and Huawei have pre-loaded an app that enables you to use the this mode on your smartphone.
Well, different brands might have named this app differently, so please do look in your phone’s app drawer section for the apps with names similar to that of Kids’ Mode or Guest Mode.
Generally, some Android phones have a guest mode embedded at their system level. For example, the LG G3 has the this mode that you can have access on by going to Settings > General > Privacy > Guest Mode.
If, by chance, your phone doesn’t have this feature, then the most effective and clever way to keep your phone’s personal data safe is by locking down some apps.
Wasn’t this interesting? Trust me, switching on to the guest mode would not only prevent others from accessing your personal data but also protect your phone and your important apps. Also some settings might help you to save your internet if others are unable to use it.
