“Ma, results are out”, said Naveen entering the home with full joy. Anguished Savita asked, “Yes son, how much? Did you topped?” Naveen face looked like a doomed star in deep grief,” No maa, I secured only 92%. The topper secured a total of 97%.” Hearing this, Savita left the room. She became unhappy. How will she now face the society? How will she tell her kitty party friends that her son is nothing but a loser? She felt gloomy and angry. While Naveen sitting in his room was clueless. Should he be happy or sad? Is this an achievement or a real big failure? He felt depressed, thinking what he will do now.
Finally he thought of talking to his father of his futile efforts and his future. What would be the life of a loser son? He won’t be able to jthe oin a good college. What would he do? Aimlessly, he reached his father’s room. “Papa, I want to talk to you.” said Naveen. Rakesh said, “Yes, my son. I was about to come to your to congratulate you on your grand success.” “Papa, I am really sorry. I scored only 92%. I don’t know what went wrong. I studied so much but still I scored less. Will you ever forgive me? I promise you that I will study more hard from now onwards. I am sorry.” Saying this, he broke out in his father’s arms.
His father was perturbed. Shockingly, he exclaimed,” What! Are you a fool? You are just 17, son. 92% is bad? Really. I brought an entire set of games to congratulate you. This is only the end of beginning. You are yet to attain so much in life. Marks doesn’t define you. Come on, let me tell you something.”
“Once there lived an old man in the woods. He used to work hard daily. From childhood, he had a dream to have a wooden home near the river. He daily cut the woods and take them 10 miles away near the river. People passing by called him mad, “This 50 year old idiot thinks he can do all things by himself.” They mocked at him. But he ignored them and keep on cutting the woods. After 4 years of hard work, he made a beautiful house and garden. People who used to laugh at him earlier, now came to praise the beauty of the house and appreciated the old man’s efforts.”
Now he asked Naveen, what do you learn? Naveen smiled. His father said, Son, from this you learn three things:-
1) No matter how worse the situations are, the biggest thing you lose is hope, by which you can achieve everything.
2) This is only the beginning, the best is yet to come. Have patience.
3) People are born to say. No matter what you do, they will talk. Let them say.”
Hearing his father words, Naveen felt a sense of determination. He felt enthusiastic towards what more he can do in life. He hugged his father and went happily.
