A Beautiful Story-Puppies for Sale

One day, a shop owner is placed a big sign board on his door that said: “Puppies For Sale.” well, Sign boards like this have always attracted young children, and to no surprise, a boy who was passing by the shop saw the sign and approached the shopkeeper; “How much are you going to sell the puppies for?” he asked curious and innocently.

The store owner bluntly replied, “Anywhere from $30 to $50.”

Hearing the price, the little boy pulled out some change from his small pocket. After checking he said “I have $2.37.”  “Can I please have a look at them?”

The shop owner smiled at him and then whistled. Out of the medium sized kennel came a Lady, who came into the shop followed by five teeny, tiny balls of fur. They were so cute that the boy adored them. But suddenly he realised that one puppy was lagging little behind. Immediately the sensitive little boy singled out that lagging, limping puppy and asked, “What’s wrong with that tiny puppy?”

The shopkeeper explained that previously a veterinarian had examined the little puppy and had discovered that it does not have a hip socket. Eventually it would always limp and would never stand strong. Sadly, it would always be lame.

The little boy became really excited to hear that and said “That is the puppy that I want to buy.”

The surprised shop owner said, “No, trust me you definitely don’t want to buy that puppy. If you really and genuinely want him, then I will just give him to you anyway.”

Hearing such words, the little boy got quite upset. He looked straight into the shopkeeper’s eyes, pointed his finger, and said;

“I DON’T WANT YOU TO GIVE HIM AWAY TO ME. THIS LOVELY LITTLE PUPPY IS WORTH EVERY BIT AS MUCH AS ALL THE OTHER PUPPIES AND THUS I WOULD PAY THE FULL PRICE. IN FACT, I WOULD GIVE YOU $2.37 NOW, AND 50 CENTS PER MONTH UNTIL I HAVE FOR HIM FULLY.”

The astonished shop owner countered, “see child, you really don’t need to buy this little dog. He is never ever going to be able to run and even jump or play with you like the other puppies. So, its better that you take one that serves your purpose”

To the man’s surprise, the little boy reached down towards his trousers and rolled his pant up his leg to reveal his badly twisted and crippled left leg credibly supported by a big metal brace. He looked innocently up at the shop owner and softly replied, “Well, as a matter of fact I don’t run so well myself even, and this humbly cute and little puppy will need someone who understands him. And I don’t think that I would find some better companion than him!”

MORAL OF THE STORY: Always empathise with others. Don’t try to sympathise with them or even be ignorant to others because it hurts. Learn to understand others also. It is very essential. Your understanding others can really be helpful to them.
