Read Story Control Your Temper
Once upon a time there was a little boy who lived in a small village with his family. The eldest member of his family was his grandfather, who was an epitome of wisdom. He knew that his grandchild had a very bad temper, but never really did anything about that. One day a boy came with his parents to complain about the boy. They said to his father that “Your son is a spoilt brat, just because my son wasn’t sharing his notes with him, he was beaten up by your son. Raju bet him so ruthlessly that there are marks on his face and body, and the eyes are severely purplish and swollen. How dare he? Why don’t you teach your son to control his anger ? Today, he has lost a friend because of his anger.” Hearing this, Raju’s parents were really shameful and scolded him a lot.

That evening, the small boy was very sad as he had lost his best friend because of his anger and also his parents were angry on him. He went to his grandfather and sat beside him quietly. His grandfather quietly brought a bag of nails from the store room and handed it over to Raju and said “From now on whenever you lose your temper, just hammer a nail to the fence of the backyard.” Raju was quite curious about the reason behind this but agreed to his grandfather’s suggestion without questioning.
On the first day, the Raju hammered all total 37 nails into the fence. But eventually, the number started reducing. Thus, the boy had gradually begun to control his bad temper over the next few weeks. As a matter of fact, he discovered that it was quite easier to control his temper than to hammer the nails into the fence.
Finally, after about one and a half months, the day came when Raju did not lose his temper at all, even when the senior boys try to provoke. He told his grandfather the good news and the was suggested by him to pull out a nail every day when he could keep his temper under control. Days passed and the young little boy was finally able to tell his grandpa that all the nails were actually gone. Hearing this, the old man took him to the fence and said to him “YOU HAVE DONE WELL, MY SON, BUT LOOK AT THE HOLES IN THE FENCE. THE FENCE WOULD NEVER BE THE SAME. WHEN YOU SAY THINGS IN ANGER, THEY ALWAYS LEAVE A SCAR JUST LIKE THESE ONES. YOU CAN EVEN PUT A KNIFE IN A MAN AND THEN DRAW IT OUT. IT WOULD NOT REALLY MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SAY SORRY, BECAUSE THE WOUND WOULD STILL BE THERE.”
Moral of the story: Always try to control your anger, and never say things to people in the heat of the moment, that you might later regret. Some things in life, you are unable to be taken back.
