Failure Is Just A Part Of Learning

Failure Is Just A Part Of Learning.

One, sunny morning, a photographer, wearing a red checked collared shirt, a pair of brown trousers, sporty shoes and a big hat, came to the address he was given to him by his boss.

When he reached the place, adorned with colourful tents and saw some ring masters, he comprehended that it was a circus. It was morning time when the animals were being trained backstage, under the sun, in sandy meadows.

The amateur photographer who was assigned the task of capturing practices of circus animals, entered a tent which was red and white in colour.

Control Your Temper

There he saw a big elephant and two small elephants. He was amused to see that all the three animal’s legs were tied with a thin and fragile rope, irrespective of their size.

He stood there tried to figure out the reason, as he knew that the big elephant was strong enough to break the shackles of the thin rope, if not tied up with iron shackles or some thick rope.

When one of the fat ring masters with excessively bright clothes and a big brown moustache, came in, the photographer curiously asked, “Why have you tied the elephant with a thin rope like the small monkeys, when you know that it can easily break it off and run away?

The ringmaster cunningly said “ When the animals are small, they are tied with thin ropes. Even though they try, they are unable to break the shackles and go. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe that they cannot break off. They believe that the thin rope can still hold them even if they try to break it off”

After hearing this, the photographer was quite amazed and understood a big philosophy of life. Then he tried to analyse his past and connect the philosophy to his life. He understood that the animals could anytime break free from their bonds and run away. But because they believed that they couldn’t, they were stuck there anyway.

Similarly, in our lives, it’s our belief and self-confidence which plays the biggest role. If we believe that we can do something and keep reminding ourselves the positive thought, then we can definitely do that and achieve our goals, otherwise not.

It is very essential that we believe in our capabilities and strengths. If once we failed in achieving something, does not signify that we can’t try again and perhaps achieve it.

In the above case, the elephant had started believing that he can’t break away, so he stopped trying. He never tried again to break the shackles, believing in his incapability. That was what hindered his freedom.

We should always keep trying, whatever be the situation. Failures might happen, but we should try harder considering it an opportunity for performing better. Along with this, we shouldn’t forget to learn from our failures. We must remember that mistakes lead to failures and thus we should not refrain from learning from our mistakes and ensuring that we don’t repeat them. Then we are sure to succeed.
